The visit of Summerbridge

This past Wednesday (June 26th), a group of enthusiastic young men and women from around the world came to TPSSS for an open house event. These Summerbridge summer camp teachers were hosted by Form 1 and Form 2 students who showed them around the campus, introducing the visitors to the various facilities at our school and sharing their thoughts and feelings about school life in Hong Kong. It was a great opportunity for our students to put their English language skills into practice as well as for the young teachers to have a chance to interact with students. There was also a training and sharing session hosted by the English department, briefing the Summerbridge teachers the local school system and activities held by our school. The visit was a resounding success which was received with enthusiasm by the visiting Summerbridge teachers and TPSSS students alike.
Our English teacher, Mr Lam, said that, ‘It was a rare opportunity to meet so many young teachers from foreign countries and share my teaching experience with them on 26 July 2019. Thanks to Summerbridge Hong Kong, our students had a chance to meet the foreign teachers and interact with them in English. I was assigned to give a presentation about the local education curriculum and the challenges of teaching English in Hong Kong. Honestly, I was quite nervous to speak in public. I was afraid that I would make a mistake in my speech. Fortunately, my talk was smooth and I was able to present the topic which I had prepared. I believe that teacher will learn more when they teach, so overtime they might get over their teaching challenges.’
